Leonard P. Gietz, MD, FCAP - Partner
Dr. Gietz is Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. He has extensive experience in dermatopathology, breast, GI and GU pathology.
He graduated from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada with a Bachelor of Science degree. He attended the same University's Medical School, graduating in 1969 with his Doctor of Medicine. His internship was completed in 1969 at Victoria Hospital in London, Canada. His residencies were obtained at St. Frances and Queens Hospitals in Honolulu, Hawaii and Ottawa General Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Gietz has owned and operated Regional Medical Lab since 1982. He has been the Director of Citizen's Medical Center's Laboratory since 1975.
C. Leilani Valdes, MD, FCAP - Partner
Dr. Valdes is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and is also board certified in Dermatopathology. She is an active member of the College of American Pathologists serving on many CAP committees.
She received her Bachelor of Arts from Emory University in 1995. After a brief career in marketing and public relations, she attended the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California and graduated in 2004. Her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology was completed at Los Angeles County - University of Southern CA Medical Center. Her Dermatopathology Fellowship was completed at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Valdes has been employed at Regional Pathology Associates since 2009. She serves as Laboratory Director for the RPA Anatomic Pathology Laboratory, Cuero Community Hospital, Jackson County Hospital, and Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital.
Bryan Janssen, MD, FCAP - Staff Pathologist
Dr. Janssen is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology.
He received his Bachelor of Arts from Baylor University. After a two year position as a medical laboratory technologist, he attended the University of Texas Medical School at Houston to obtain his Doctor of Medicine. His Residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology was completed at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX. He completed his fellowship in cytopathology at the Methodist Hospital in June of 2013 where he was honored to be Chief Fellow.
Dr. Janssen joined Regional Pathology Associates as a staff pathologist in July 2013.
Orlando Varona, MD, FCAP - Staff Pathologist
Dr. Varona is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He has extensive experience in dermatopathology, breast, GI and GU pathology.
He received his Doctor of Medicine from Manila Central University, Manila, Philippines. He completed his Internship and Residency in Pathology at Manila Sanitarium & Hospital. His Fellowship in Pathology was done at Loma Linda University's School of Medicine. He was certified by the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates in 1964.
Dr. Varona was an associate Pathologist for Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, TX from 1974-1984. He has been a staff pathologist for Regional Medical Lab since 1984.
Diane Adrian - Pathologists' Assistant (ASCP)
Ms. Adrian is an ASCP certified pathologists' assistant. She received a B.S. in Biology in May 1989 from Southwest Texas State University and a M.S. with thesis in August 1995 from the Department of Cellular and Structural Biology at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
She completed a M.S. in Allied Health in August 1998 through the Pathologist's Assistant Program at Duke University. Prior to joining RPA in 2011, she served as aPathologists' Assistant at Pathologists' Assistant, Pathology Associates of Central Illinois at Memorial Medical Center.
